Business Development Executive

OVERVIEW:

Mavendog, LLC seeks a Business Development Executive to help acquire new customers and sell its management consulting services and products. This is a Cleveland/Akron/Hudson, OH-based role, with a regional focus on the Midwest (OH, MI, western PA). It is a senior role, and he or she will be tasked with helping grow Mavendog from a small start-up company to a leader in the consulting marketplace. It is an exciting position with potentially huge upside, allowing the executive to put his or her indelible mark on the Mavendog organization and its direction.

This role is entrepreneurial in nature. Sales methods and schedules are up to the executive, as long as they deliver new clients and high sales volumes. We seek executives with strong experience in professional services/consulting sales. 

EXPECTATIONS -- Research and Development:

  • Understand industry segments (particularly Information Technology)
  • Keep abreast of development in the market and/or region
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of product offerings, and those of its partners
  • Be familiar with consultant backgrounds to ensure appropriate consultant team(s) are assigned
  • Identify and define growth opportunities in the market for the business
  • Proactively identify, locate, and target market pipeline growth for the assigned territory through multiple communication channels including phone, email, social media, and face-to-face meetings
  • Develop an overall plan and forecast sales results to align with regional sales growth initiatives
  • Measure and set clear performance goals to achieve sales quota
  • Actively develop contacts and networks inside and outside the company

EXPECTATIONS -- Management Consulting Sales:

  • Travel and meet with clients, partners and colleagues when necessary
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct sales presentations to inform and educate customers
  • Handle contract negotiations alongside the Managing Director, and drive sales closures
  • Ensure all deal information is entered in CRM in a timeline manner
  • Submit weekly sales report as required to the Managing Director

EXPECTATIONS -- Employee Management:

  • Manage a sales team as company grows (the role will not have direct reports initially)

COMPENSATION:

As a start-up firm, Mavendog has an evolving compensation package. The role carries a very competitive commission percentage with no sales cap. It also includes potential equity stake in the company. Other benefits will become available as the company continues to grow. Please inquire for details.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unquestionable integrity, credibility, character, and professionalism
  • At least 10 years experience in consulting as a Business Development Manager
  • Proven track record of success in management consulting sales, particularly in project and change management
  • Experience managing sales pipeline, forecasting, and closing deals
  • Minimum education Bachelor Degree
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Flexible scheduling and hours
  • Can work from home and/or remotely
  • Can work in diverse industries and navigate a variety of company cultures
  • Experience interfacing and negotiating with senior executives
  • Enjoys meeting new people and building rapport constantly
  • High energy level, sense of urgency, decisiveness and ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong follow-up skills and persistence in getting to the right people
  • The drive to succeed, and a hunger for more
